My Story

// April 19th, 2009 // wave2net experiences

So I need to post my story to kick this whole thing off

Please dont forget to send yours in by filling out the form on the contact page.

Like most of us, I had no standard broadband options (dsl or cable). I actually found out about wave2net through the ValPack coupons. I scored a free site survey if I ended up signing up with them (a $25 dollar value – that i would regret for a long time to come).

I signed up when we were living in Clear Brook, VA. I wasn’t actually there when they came out to do the site survey, but they left a nice detailed report of the survey when I got home that day. I think the excitement at the thought of a broadband connection for my start-up business clouded my judgment when I questioned and then signed that 2 year contract.

Installation when pretty smooth, all aside from the installer talking about porn the entire time… it was up and running. At the time I was a full time network administrator and knew exactly what was going on during the setup and static IP assignment.

So apparently they have a few different antennas they choose from to install.  They installed it and I had a horrible experience and eventually I ended with a different antenna with no better service (in total i’ve had 3 different antennas – the service SUCKED on all of them)

It was bad from the start, but i sucked it up – I am a very easy going and reasonable guy… so i waited thinking it would get better! I mean I did have a few good moments of usage! After a while I was on http://www.speakeasy.net or http://www.speedtest.net/ every moment before wasting my time at trying to get my computer on the internet!

So i called and called… same ole thing: reboot your computer, reboot your router, bad router, reboot the antenna! NOTHING worked… I even went through 3 different routers mainly because they say in the ‘welcome packet’ that their stuff doesnt work with Linksys! (that should have been another warning). We all have preferences so I overlooked it  – whats another $60? and then another??? I started with a Linksys, whet to a Netgear and then finaly a buffalo router. They all had the same problem.

The problem was, if i could even manage to pull up a web page it was slower than dialup!!! I enjoy the occasional youTube video from time to time – even on good days it wouldn’t be worth it. But why was there a connection issue to begin with? I would sit at my comptuer, whisper a prayer and hope wave2net would work for me today! Most of the time I got the wonderful your not connected message I would then ‘rinse and repeat’ the steps listed above.

I’ll try to shorted my story up, but I moved to Stephens City. Paid $150 to have my antenna re-installed and faced the same crappy issues! I called and called, wrote emails for help and it was all the same – reboot this and that – essentially it was as if it was only my problem not theirs!

So I was done – I demand good service! Especially living in a new house that had great broadband options. I know I signed up for crappy internet and at a horrible price, but I didn’t have any options like I do now! I was paying $60 for a 2MB connection (they wont tell you that on their site – one of these installers told) I was willing to honor my word and signed contract IF THEY WOULD GIVE ME SERVICE!

So my thought was they aren’t giving me service, I’m not giving them money! So i just stopped paying them and signed up with Comcast. They eventually sent it claims where I settled it, but had I known what I know now I would have taken them to small claims court and handled things a bit differntly.

I want to post resources, tips and overall advice. I have a few things I’ve been able to gather, but if you have any please send them in!

I think you should report them to the better business bureau.

My husband and i have be fighting with this company for about 2.5 years now and we dont even have have their equipment my husband went up on our roof and took the stuff down and took it to their office since no one would come and get it and they still wanted our money my husband gave them a 50 dollar check and told them that was all they were going to get. We have reported them to better business bureau and i see they are still in bussiness. Rudy is one rude person and a coward at that. He wouldn’t even speak to my husband when he went in to the office. He had to talk to Brandi which is dumber then owl sh*t if you ask me. After a year the had not even cashed our check we gave them so we called the bank and put a stop on the check. About a year later we recieved mail saying the wave2net sent us to claims. That is fine we spoke with a lawyer and he said it would cost us more to take him to court the what they say we owe them. So the lawyer said to just let him send us to claims and if they want to push it and send us to court it will have to come out of his pocket. Well we are still waiting and nothing has happend. I tell everybody that wave2net is nothing but a rip off and to pass the word around. I hope soon this company goes out of business and he cant rip anymore people off!!

I applied for a job with wave2net. Wanted me to sign a contract for no overtime…which is against the law. I was on unemployment at the time and the greasy thing he calls a wife called them and told them I applied for a job. I was going to be paid on a 1099. I worked it out though. These people are scammers, and just in general are taking precious oxygen from people who really need it. They have used laptops and old servers that run their piece of crap network. Well what comes around goes around. wave2not —- lmao.

  4. me says:

I WORKED for these people and was forced to lie day after day after day to customers about service being down. SERVICE IS ALWAYS DOWN!!!!!!! And they claim it’s always someone else’s problem when it was usually just a squirrel facing the wrong direction on someone’s roof that blocked the signal. The signal wasn’t strong enough to support all their customers. I am so proud of this website!!! : )

  5. John Doe says:

They now have a sign up on a billboard on 50 coming into winchester. It says reliable service, and a whole bunch of other crap saying how great they are…….Rudy is nothing but a little lying [edit]…

  6. Me As Well =) says:

I as well worked for this company. It really is probably the worst internet comapny around. Granted they are nice people outside of work, I do not think that they have the right mindset for owning a business. The place is very low staff and people were always calling and complaining about internet. It was frustrating for me telling these angry customers the same thing every day, but I dont blame them at all, if I were in their shoes, I would be doing the same thing. I too am glad about this website because I think people should know what they are getting themselves into before they deceide to put down over 500 dollars for internet thats worth only about 5 cents.

  7. David says:

Well, as I have read this site, and have listened to the many phone calls our company has received in inquiry for service over the past year or so, I have to say that our company, Winchester Wireless, provides a good quality service in many of the areas where Wave2Net tries to broadcast. We do NOT make our customers sign a contract and we give them a TRUE 30 day 100% money back guarantee. So, if any of you former Wave2Net customers are looking for highspeed still, give us a try – it’s risk free and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. We have several former Wave2Net customers on our service, and they seem to be happy because our phone does not ring very often with outage issues – and when it does it is usually as simply as having the customer reboot their radio or router. Check us out at http://www.winchesterwireless.com or give us a call, 540-665-0800. Help us put the “competition” out of business.

you should post a report on http://www.ripoffreport.com

  9. Lee Claytor says:

I have had wave2net for about 2 months now. I waited 6 weeks to get service and the installation is terrible! They ran the line across the gutter and it is now currently hanging down in front of the house. The are frequent outages with no support at nights and on weekends. Also, I do some online gaming and use pingtest.net regularly to check my connection. About half the time my grade is a D or F. Unacceptable packet loss, ping, and ping jitter. I am going with Winchester Wireless and am going to let my account with wave2net to go to collections. From what I understand, they are unlikely to do much because they could have a class action suit on their hands. FU WAVE2NET!

  10. me says:

When did you work for Wave2Not @Me as Well?

  11. Me too says:

How does Wave2net stack up to horrible companies like Hughes net (satellite) Anything must be better. I am canceling Hughes net because of the excruciating service, and limitations you have., slow speeds, and high price. I have heard wave2net is much better without the limitations. I hope this is so, will give a report after I exerience it myself.

  12. admin says:

    @me too
you’ll experience the same thing with wave2net… except you’ll also get outages with no cause or reason vs just slow speeds (which is a given). Its over priced as well and last i knew with the plan i had the limit on bandwidth was (i think) 5GB per month.
I called them to address this because i was under the impression it was unlimited, but after you get the contract you’ll see its not. Best of luck!

  13. Lenny Bianchi says:

I tried and tried to give Wave2Net a chance to make things right and they just took advantage of the situation and dragged it out until it was too late to get my credit card company to credit my $1200 back. It started in March 2009. I expressed my concern that their contract provided nowhere for cancellation if the service was horrible, and tried to place an addendum into their contract simply stating that I could cancel at any time without penalty if there were regular and lengthy interruptions in service. We went days without service too numerous to remember. In one instance we went two solid weeks without service. No one ever answered the phone. Their website said that they were available up to 6 PM Monday-Friday. When I called at 5:30 on a Friday, I didn’t even get voicemail, just a continual ringing. Finally, in July 2009 I told him I was canceling and returning the equipment. He told me it was not returnable, that it was my property. I told him it was sold to me under false pretenses, that is, that it would enable me to receive reasonably reliable broadband internet service and I had no further use for it. I offered to pay him for the three months of horrible service I had received, but that was all. Because Rudy had continually asked me to be patient, that things would get better, I tried to be compassionate, but by the time I made my move, I was past the 90 days the credit card company requires to place the charge in dispute. So now I have to take him to court. Anyone want to join in my lawsuit and share attorneys’ fees, which should be recoverable? 540-554-8417

  14. Maurice Dunigan says:

I just subscribed to Wave2net but have had bad email service and homepage outage. Is this normal with this company?

  15. John says:

I called and there were no salesmen in the office. “Rudy” called back and I was talking to him when we realized that we had been researching a different company. Fortunately we stumbled on this website while we were on the phone with Rudy. Needless to say after reading your reviews (thank you so much), our negotiations came to a screeching halt, This website is worth it’s weight in gold. These people sound pathological if you ask me.

  16. Kate says:

Believe it or not, Wave2Net actually had an attorney file a civil claim against me to the tune of $1,786 PLUS 6% interest PLUS $61 for something unknown PLUS $446 attorney’s fees.

EVERY post above explains what I’ve gone through with them… tried to be patient hoping that things would get better, but eventually just had enough because my husband and I have a home based business and it was costing us job leads – and putting a serious strain on the day-to-day operations.

Anyone else being taken to court by Rudy & Co.???

I’ll certainly welcome anyone disgrunted by Wave2Net’s sleazy business practices to stop by Fred County court, 5 N. Kent St. in Winchester, on Sept. 9th at 1 p.m. I have a terrible feeling that smooth talking Rudy Worrell will actually make an appearance (funny, he never made an appearance when I needed him to fix our service). I’m sure he’ll put on a great show for the judge.

It makes me sick that people like him get away with ripping people off like this.

Oh yeah – HUGE thumbs up for Dave at Winchester Wireless… he’s got a great company, service is very reliable, and I’m just so sorry that I didn’t know about them before I got into this mess with Wave2Net.

  17. David says:

Lenny, you can dispute a credit card transaction for up to 12 months. So, I would recommend you do a little research on the dispute process and then go back to your credit card company and file the dispute. If you are told you are too late, you need to quote the law to them that tells you as a consumer you have dispute protection for up to 12 months. I am not quite sure where that law is, but if I find it, I will post it on here. Look on the net and I am certain you will uncover it.

  18. David says:

Kate, you should allow your case to go to court, because the last thing that Wave2Net wants to have is a loss in the Frederick County court system against one of their customers regarding a customer supposedly breeching their contract. When you win (notice I didn’t say IF) you will set a precedent in the local court system, making it significantly harder, if not impossible, for Wave2Net to ever send another customer to collection for breech of contract. I think that everyone that reads or subscribes to this website should get behind Kate and support her in this matter. If you have had any similar problems with Wave2Net in the past, get in touch with Kate or post on this site, letting her know you want to help her and testify as a witness on her behalf, regarding the issues you have had with their service. If enough people get behind her, you may all get the justice you are looking for, by helping her WIN against Wave2Net, thus opening the floodgate to allow every other “screwed” customer to have case history for their attorneys to reference as part of their cases when people start taking Wave2Net to court over “non-performance” of their contract that they entered into with their customer(s). So, who is going to step up to the plate and get behind her and make a difference? I will be in that courtroom on Sept. 9…anyone else going to join me?

  19. pinkram says:

we used our income taxes to pay for the $400 install. big mistake. we were told we would have service at our house, then when installation time came, they told us that we didnt, so they put a dish “tripod” on the top of someone else’s shed like 5 houses up. and even then they told us that they would come back and bury the cord from our house to the neighbors. well when the snow melted they wanted to charge us the trenching fee, that was never mentioned. needless to say we did the work ourselves, because that company doesnt deserve another penny! Its soo frustrating to not have internet that works right, i hate seeing that flashing orange light. idk how many times we have called that company and they blame it on something, but when we ask what the problem is , its always the tower. well who do u think operates a tower? u gotta be smarter than the tools u work with. we still have this company, only for a few more weeks until we move, then we will let them send the outrageous bill to collection. GET IN LINE, u wont be the first to not get ur money. COMCAST HERE WE COME.

  20. IwasdupedbyRudy says:

Rudy Worrel must be the Stepbrother of Ernest P Worrel (KnowhutImean?? ) Because it surely is a ‘bumbling enterprise’. Had the service installed in 2005 while we moved in and it was a troublesome effort for the entire time we had the service. The dish was initially aligned improperly and they had to come back and move it on the roof with another set of holes in my new roof. During the entire time the support was lackluster, their knowledge was unhelpful and many times downright wrong. I work in the Internet industry and know when Im having “smoke blown up my butt”. Once the local cell towers upgraded to EVDO Rev A and I could use a broadband connection I couldn’t get that damn dish off my roof fast enough. I called to schedule the removal and was told I would be charged to get it off. Fearing a leaky roof after they came and refusing to give them another cent, I got up on the roof myself and took the antenna down myself and took it to their office hoping to ‘shove it sideways’ but Rudy was not there.

I fulfilled my obligations to them but they certainly did not fulfill them to me.

    Good riddance,

Rudy you are not an honest man.

  21. Lenny Bianchi says:

We will try to be present for Kate’s trial in September. We will advise of our upcoming court date and would appreciate any support from former customers who can validate our position.

  22. Kate says:

Thanks again, Lenny! Should ve very interesting. And I will definitely return the favor.

  24. LPC says:

I was signed up for a 2 year contract and got little to no service. It took them 4 days to install it and when a guy named rudy showed up he flirted with me the whole time to the point i had to tell him i’m married. this company sucks. i paid my dues and stuff it out for 2 years, good luck to anyone that tries this company.

  25. Kate says:

LPC, I’d love to hear more about the lack of service you got from them. How long/often were your outages? We’ll be seeing Rudy and his attorney for a trial in December.

  26. David says:

LPC, who is your provider now? Give us a try.

  27. vern says:

If this wasn’t so sad, it would be funny. The really sad part is that at least on some level I think the Bumbling Idiots at wave2 net actually try. They’re just incompitent. As I type, my email service is down. I called and got the standard recording saying there were no “known” outages…lack of monitoring = imcompient…when I finally did get to speak to a “technical support” person and advised them that thier mail server was down, after being put on hold for 10 minutes or so, he comes back and tells me they have to contact the “service provider”. So, Rudy and the rest of his team have “outsourced” email to another provider (not really an uncommon practice for small ISP’s)…funny thing is, in personal conversations with Rudy, he tells me they mail servers don’t need to be upgraded. Guy’s always got a “reason” or should I say “excuse”. Can’t wait for Winchester Wireless to expand into my area so I can dumpt this outfit (band of misfits). I hope our pal Rudy reads this and cuts my service off, I’d like to have a good reason to join some of you in court. I could go on and on about my experiences but it wouldn’t be anything that I’m sure each of you hasn’t already experienced.

  28. vern says:

Hit enter, made some coffee, washed some clothes, put a log on the fire, made a few phone calls, finally, a response. High speed internet eh?

  29. john says:

Automated attendant….Hello, you’ve reached wave2net, our goal is to provide you with all possible information (wink, we have none), and all possible solutions (wink, wink, we have none of those either), at all possible times (even though we say you can reach tech support Mon-Fri 8-5 and it’s 1 in the afternoon, you have been dumped in a vmail box) :) Thx and please call again )or put a gun in your mouth, whichever you find less painful).

  30. Nita Wilson says:

The survey was completed and the signal located. When the tech returned several days later to do the installation, he was unable to locate the signal. He called on a senior tech who was on another call and would arrive later (no further details), packed up his gear and departed. I called the office and cancelled the installation.

Thinking back, I should have known something was not quite right. When I dropped off my contract, the address of the building on Garber Lane was not clearly marked and most of the vehicles in the lot were from out of state. And if my memory is accurate were they sitting behind plexiglass (being protected from who, what)?

I used a credit card to pay the $400 installation fee but the refund was paid using a check. The ‘Suntrust’ account has been closed and I’m out $373.71 (minus $30 survey fee.) And, how was your day?

  31. David says:

    Nita,

Sorry, I have not been on this site in a while. Did you ever get internet at your residence? Please give us a call and we can see if we can get you service. 540-665-0800. http://www.winchesterwireless.com

  32. David says:

    Vern,

Please contact us via email so I can correspond with you about the possibility of service availability to your residence. Email us at sales@winchesterwireless.com

  33. David says:

I would like to post on here that there are some other website forums out on the internet where Wave2Net is accusing our company, Winchester Wireless, of having put up this Wave2Not.com website. This is an inaccurate statement. We have nothing to do with either the creation or maintaining of this website. I did email the gentleman who created and runs this site and asked him if it would be ok if we made posts on the threads and he told us it was ok, so that is why we do make posts here, to help people find better service. If anyone has any concerns or question mark in their mind as to the validity of this, please contact the owner of this website by using his contact form at the very top menu on this page. Ask him to email you back, so you can confirm who created and maintains this site. You will find that it is not us, nor anyone that has ever worked for our company. Ask him to tell you why he created and maintains the site, too.

And Wave2Net, since I am sure you police this site periodically, please do not make accusations about our company running “smear campaigns” against your company unless you have documented proof of these accusations, or you may find yourself on the wrong end of a liable suit. You already have seen once that we assisted one of our customers, Kate & Chad Enders, with representation on a suit your company filed against them. Should we talk about how that was dismissed with prejudice against your company because your LLC wasn’t even a legal entity with the state corporation commission? So, for anyone who is in a “contract” with Wave2Net, check with the state corporation commission to see what dates their company was actually a valid corporation, because if your contract was initiated while they were not a valid corporation, then the contract is null and void, and Wave2Net vs. Chad Enders here in Frederick County is now a legal precident that you will have to work with to walk away from any contract signed during that window of time.

Still want to keep going, accusing us of a smear campaign? No smearing in that paragraph, just plain facts.

Kate, I know you probably were going to post about your court case on here, but since you never got around to it, I hope you don’t mind me sharing it on here.
